Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the stresses of daily life?  Mindfulness gives us proven mind and body awareness techniques to increase our ability to cope with the ups and downs of life.  Through guided meditations, simple relaxation techniques, and easy-to-use body scan and breathing exercises, learn to increase your enjoyment of the present moment while reducing the amount of time you spend worrying about the future or ruminating on the past.  This beginner series will include a comprehensive look at all aspects of mindfulness, the practices of mindfulness of body and breathing, a practical look at ways to incorporate mindful practices into your day, and an in-depth review of the stress response.

This three-week series will build upon the techniques explained in “Mindfulness 101,” though newcomers are welcome.  Students will continue with mindfulness of thinking and emotions, review current scientific research on the impact of mindfulness on the brain, and further investigate ways of bringing mindfulness into everyday life.

Positive psychology, the scientific study of optimal wellbeing, is changing the way we experience happiness. In this interactive workshop, we will cover its fundamental concepts, as well as an array of tools and practices to help you build a fuller life. Through discussion and exercises, you will discover ways to increase positivity and resilience, recognize and use your character strengths, and develop healthy and fulfilling relationships. Hands-on activities and journaling will facilitate our exploration of a gratitude practice, mindfulness, your ideal self, and ways to use your inner resources during challenging times.
