Make tomorrow's treasures today. Seasonal and timeless, express yourself in a handmade object.

In this class, students will paint a variety of plants and animals with photographs as resources.  Additionally, to commemorate the upcoming 80th birthday of Scarsdale Adult School, we will collaborate on a special mixed media and watercolor presentation piece.  Color mixing, design principles, perspective, friendly but constructive class critiques, short demos, and composition will help each artist to develop their own personal style of painting. Lessons will include portraits of wild animals in their habitats as well as beautiful florals.  This class is intended for students who have some experience with the medium.

Faces are fascinating and unique.  In this class, we will study the basic shapes and proportions of a face and then observe the characteristics of a self-portrait and people using photographs.  The manikin is a wooden model of a figure.  You will be able to study and draw anatomical shapes from this movable manikin.  Animal models will be the next subject.  Other organic objects such as flowers and fruit will provide the opportunity to draw from nature.  A variety of drawing media will be introduced including pencil, charcoal, ink, colored pencil and watercolor crayons.  The lessons are ideal for those who have taken other drawing classes and wish to expand their skills.  Beginners are also welcome.  Basic materials will be provided.  Students are asked to bring a sketchbook 12”x15” or larger.
