Religion and Philosophy


Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew during the cataclysmic 2nd Temple Period.  This course will examine translations of Hebrew, Greek and Latin source documents, including the New Testament, Josephus, Pseudepigrapha, Apocrypha, the Talmud, and Midrash, to evaluate the Jewishness of Jesus and the points of opposition between Judaism and his teachings, in the context of the political, economic, religious and intellectual conditions of his time.
